Scouting Life

Born in Kuala Lumpur on March 1985. Was a Brownie in 1996-1997 with SK Bandar Baru Seri Petaling. Started scouting in 1998 with Troop-30 Bandar Tun Razak (SMK Bandar Baru Seri Petaling), in 1999 with Troop-09 Seputeh (SMK Desa Perdana), achieved the King’s Scout Award in 2002 via Troop-31 Titiwangsa (SMK Yaacob Latiff) while I was a student at Methodist Girls’ School Kuala Lumpur, where Fridays I marched with the army cadet corp (Kadet Remaja Sekolah, since no scout troop in MGS) and on Saturdays (and most other days) I am a Scout.

I have been a dedicated scout since 1998 with the Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM), and exemplify a lifelong commitment to scouting principles, emphasizing personal growth, community engagement, and global collaboration.

As my passion for scouting flourished, I assumed various leadership roles, ascending from Assistant District Commissioner to Deputy State Commissioner and eventually achieving the notable position of International Commissioner all while maintaining as an adult leader for two community based units. Notably, I made history by becoming the first female and under-40 member of the association’s senior management team. In PPM, I chair the constitutional committee, undertaking a challenging task to review our constitution, policy, organisation and rules. I also spearhead initiatives in the areas of Spiritual Development and in Diversity & Inclusion and in Community Based Scouting. The skills I have honed while serving in these roles has humbly positioned me as an agent for international collaboration and as a global consultant.

I achieved King’s Scout Award in my youth in 2002, a 4 year arduous journey where I demonstrated remarkable determination and diligence, all while maintaining both pluck and humility in my pursuit.

A loyal member of The King’s Scout Brotherhood of Malaysia since 2007. I was part of the national Brotherhood (known as Asal today) until 2012 when I decided to assist the founding members of the Negeri Sembilan Brotherhood to develop King’s Scouts in that state. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, where I reside full time, I endeavoured to play a more active role with the KL Brotherhood however, my services were always requested for by other states. I served as Negeri Sembilan’s Vice Chair (King’s Scout Development) for two consecutive terms, rendered support to the state’s training and youth programme team. recently, I was elected as Chair for the Negeri Sembilan Brotherhood, being their first female lead since the inception in 2011. I also serve as the Vice President (King’s Scout Development) at National level. During my tenure I offered a number of services such as:-

Nepal Earthquake 2015

Together with the Malacca sea scout unit, we initiated to raise 800 units of portable water filters for the people of the Republic of Nepal. This effort involved partnering with NGOs such as the Dharma Shakti Organisation and Nepal Scouts, with particular assistance from Lalitpur District Scouts. The team and I personally delivered these filters to the outskirts of Kathmandu, reaching as far as Ramechap, a journey of 3 hours by off-road means, ensuring the villagers had access to clean water.

Uganda Scouts Association 2024

Initiated and facilitated collaboration between the Scouts Association of Malaysia and the Uganda Scouts Association to explore on developing a framework to a sustainable marine scouts programme for the youths of Uganda. Ensuring the framework considers all factors such as being fit for purpose, safeguarding policy vis marine scouting and partnerships with local marine authorities are considered and not forgetting to link it all back to the vision for world scouting.
